I have been listening to metal for roughly 5-6 years now, and throughout this time, I've always noticed the lack of understanding of this genre of music. Most people who claim to be "metalheads" often times don't even know the classics of more than 3 subgenres. Even worse, some of those who claim to be "metalheads" may list their top favorite bands with half of them not even being metal (such as metalcore, "nu-metal," mallcore, etc).
In this blog, I want to achieve a few goals. First of all, I will hopefully lure a few people who've had the "metal heart" inside of them all along, but they were simply never exposed to this music. In order to accomplish this, I will plan on making the list very easy to use: I will make sure to specifically highlight bands that are easy to get into, and more importantly, I will not give too long of a review on each band/album. And on top of that, I'll hopefully spread the understanding of the depth and complexity of the music in this genre, because many people simply don't even know what metal sounds like outside of Metallica or Pantera (or whatever other popular metal band people might listen to).
Secondly, I want to learn more about the metal genres myself by blogging nearly every important metal act I can find, which will take a lot of research on my part since even as of now I definitely don't know enough.
If you have any suggestions for my list, I'll be more than happy to listen to what you have, since I do lack knowledge in some subgenres. Make sure to contact me via here or from my email: anilerol2002@yahoo.com
